Product DescriptionAlmost everyone recognizes the traditional and ancient symbol of the claddagh which comes from Ireland. The Solvar Company of Dublin, in sharing the rich legacy of the Irish culture, has given the symbol a modern twist in the design of these two tone claddagh earrings for pierced ears. The symbol features the heart for love, the hands for friendship and the crown for trust or loyalty. These earrings are made of gold and rhodium plating and measure 7/8 inch in diameter. The heart of the symbol is done in gold surrounded by the shiny rhodium plating. The symbol is enclosed in a circle which also symbolized unending love.
The claddagh symbol is said to have been created by an Irish sailor for his one true love. He was kidnapped and when he returned home he found his love still waiting so to honor her love, friendship and loyalty he created the claddagh symbol. Enclosing the symbol in the circle just adds to the sense of the eternal. The rhodium plating on the earrings is convenient as the earrings will not tarnish but will continue to look smooth and shiny and continue to contrast beautifully and accent the gold found on the heart. May be combined with the pendant, item N12241, for a lovely gift set.
