Three Kings Charcoal Smaller Briquette/ Box of 100
The Three Kings briquettes are used for burning incense and is designed to be extremely easy to use. Each briquette measures 1-1/8". With contact from a lighter or match, the Three Kings charcoal briquette begins its burning process by emitting small red sparks and an orange glow over the surface of the coal. In about five to seven minutes, the briquette will turn hot and change color to a whitish ash at which point incense may be sprinkled over it. The briquette can provide consistant heat up to 30 minutes. The box of Three Kings charcoal contains ten foil wrapped units of 10 coals each. These quick-lighting, slow-burning charcoal briquettes are ideal for churches using incense in their liturgies and ceremonies. Three Kings charcoal can also be used at home with a home incense burner. These allow me to use multiple ones at once which provides more burn surface and there for more some from the incense for Mass.

I tried out a box or two of these, and just love the consistency. I also appreciate the smaller size. Most Orthodox church charcoal I have used are a larger size (and StPatricksGuild sells that size, too), but I like the option to have a smaller size. If I have a longer set of services, like Sunday morning Matins blending right into Liturgy, I can just put another one on. But if all I have is Vespers, I do not have to burn a big charcoal for a relatively short service.

reliable and long-lasting
Three Kings charcoal is certainly one of the most-used brands of charcoal in Orthdoox church services, though this is my first time buying some myself, for burning incense in our parish. They are quite easy to start, and have a nice, consistent burn over a long period of time. This is my first time using the smaller size, so I do not have a good feel for how long these burn, just yet, but the size larger than this always makes it through our 1.5hr Matins service. The consistency of always burning the same and the reliability of how Three Kings charcoal starts up and rarely has some kind of odd problem, is a great reason to use Three Kings.
