After his ordination he was sent back to the United States and became pastor of St. Monica's Church in Chicago.
From Slave to Priest tells the story of this courageous man who, in spite of incredible prejudice within the Church and society, left behind a legacy of service to God, society and his people. The cause for his canonization has been officially opened by the diocese of Chicago. The book has black and white illustrations throughout, is a paperback book and has 251 pages.
