Belleek’s Tree of Life trinket box has been inspired by ancient Celtic Mythology and the importance of nature in early Irish life. The Ancient Celts depended on the trees for their day-to-day existence as they provided a means of shelter, food, heat and even housed wildlife that was once hunted in Ireland. The Tree of Life trinket box design exudes the spirit of what the Celts believed about a connection between nature and the life beyond. This Tree of Life design represents their view of the tree being a connection between earth and the afterlife, mind and body and the never-ending cycle of life. It is thought they believed that trees held the spirits of their ancestors. The Oak was seen as a towering symbol of nobility, strength, endurance, longevity and wisdom.
Large enough to hold keepsakes, jewelry or other treasured trinkets, the lid has an embossed Tree of Life design while around the outside of the trinket box, there are Celtic knot designs. In addition, there is a green shamrock on the inside bottom of the piece. The Celtic Tree of Life trinket box is made of fine porcelain and measures 3.2 inches in diameter and 2.5 inches high.
