Product Details

An icon is usually a religious work of art from Eastern Orthodox Christianity which uses a sign or symbol to stand for an object either concretely or by analogy. This inspirational icon called the Old Testament Trinity is also known as The Hospitality of Abraham icon. The icon portrays the three angels who came to visit Abraham and Sarah and predict Sarah's future pregnancy seated around a table in the style made famous by St. Andre Rublov. This style omits Abraham and Sarah and the others in the image of them preparing hospitality for the three angels leaving only the three angels.

It has been noted that each of the angels has the same face and, according to Christian apologists, each represents one of the Persons of the Holy Trinity hence the name Old Testament Trinity. The Old Testament Trinity is made in Russia and has the traditional styling and brilliant colors found in icons. Measuring 3" x 2-1/2", the Old Testament Trinity icon may be conveniently displayed almost anywhere, especially if space is an issue. The icon is meant to be displayed on an easel which is not included.
