St. Kateri Tekakwitha was a young Native American woman who lived in New York state in the 17th century. Although her culture was worlds different from the European culture that was being established there, she was open to the words of the Christian Jesuits who were bringing the word of God to the Native Americans. This St. Kateri statue allows you to learn about her life and try to live and emulate her faith. With St. Kateri Tekakwitha, we find a model of a person who was engulfed in cataclysmic change, yet exhibited simplicity, humility, and devotion to Christ.
