Maximilian Kolbe personifies the saying of Jesus that there is no greater love than to give up your life for a friend. But he went even further and gave up his life when imprisoned in Auschwitz for a complete stranger. He was known for promoting veneration of the Immaculate Virgin Mary and was arrested, in part, for using the radio to spread his Catholic faith and speaking out against Nazi atrocities. The front of the holy card shows St. Maximilian offering devotion to Mary while the back has a prayer asking that the one praying may receive help in giving love and service to Mary in the manner of St. Maximilian.
The St. Maximilian Kolbe holy card is made in Italy and features world famous Fratelli-Bonello artwork with gold trim. It measures 2-1/2 by 4-1/2 inches so is easy to carry in a purse, wallet or backpack or use as a bookmark in a prayer book or bible. It is laminated to protect the card and to allow the card to be used over and over again. St. Maximilian is the patron saint of imprisoned people, political prisoners and drug addicts among others.
