He is the patron saint of the young, students, and seminarians.
Born in Poland in the mid 1500’s as one of seven children of a Noble family, Stanislaus was quite pious which caused his older brother to act abusively towards him. Two times in his life he became seriously ill. The first at age 16 when his prayers to St. Barbara were followed by a visit from the Blessed Virgin Mother telling him he would enter the Jesuit order where he wanted to study. Unfortunately, as a saintly novice, Stanislaus became gravely ill. He prayed asking Mary to have his death occur on the anniversary of her Assumption. This prayer was granted. He was beautified in 1605 and canonized December 31, 1726. His Feast Day is November 13.
