Sometimes it is easier for children to learn if they are involved in an activity that deals with and allows them to experience what the lesson is that is being taught. The Confession and Communion Coloring Book gives children who have not received First Communion an activity to do that leads them through the steps of making a good confession and then receiving Communion. Pictures for the child to color illustrate the steps taken when receiving the Sacrament of Penance such as "Find out our sins. Be sorry for our sins. Tell the sins to the Priest." etc. The book makes the steps real for the child by relating the steps to what they have experienced in their life. Just as when they have hurt a friend or family member and they say they are sorry, so they tell Jesus they are sorry for the sins they have committed.
The child is also encouraged to take part in the Mass by paying attention, saying the response prayers and receiving Communion. The book would be a good resource book for children in a religious education class as the steps in taking part in the Sacraments of Confession and Communion are presented clearly and in a manner children can easily understand.
