Product DescriptionWhen was the last time you prayed for an opossum, a schrunchie, dragonflies or suntan lotion? You will find prayers for all these and more in the delightful book A Book of uncommon Prayer by Brian Doyle. As the cover says the book contains "100 Celebrations of the Miracle and Muddle of the Ordinary". The prayers are one to two pages long and, in most cases, are a reflection filled with gratitude. No matter what the situation is, whether extremely painful or joyful, Doyle finds something in the situation for which to thank God.
In his Prayer for the Immense Woman Who Runs Very Slowly Along the Street Every Morning No Matter What the Weather he recognizes her determination, relentlessness and fierce concentration and prays for the same things for himself. Prayer for Boys and Girls of Other Sexual Orientation Than Mine is where he recognizes the pain of these people and asks for forgiveness for the attitude he had at one time. All the prayers deal with very everyday human experiences that he comments on and prays about, again, with petition about something in the situation but also with gratitude for the situation being called to his attention. It is a book of most "uncommon" prayers.
