The Emerald Isle has a rich heritage full of symbols. This Irish ornament celebrates 4 of Ireland's most famous symbols. They include: the harp, the shamrock, the high cross, and the Claddagh. Each has connection to Ireland's history and is on this Irish ornament surrounded by Celtic knot work. The shamrock was revered even by the Druids for its mystical quality and it has a relationship with Christianity arriving like the high cross. The harp was on the coat of arms of the King of Ireland as early as the 13th century. And the Claddagh symbol used by many as a wedding ring, includes the heart for love, hands for friendship, and the crown to represent loyalty.
The Irish ornament is in Kelly Green with white and blue accents in the Celtic knot work. On top of the Irish ornament is a Kelly green ribbon. This "Celtic bauble" is made using a Victorian craft called "decoupage" where paper cut outs are covered with varnish until a completely smooth surface is achieved. It makes a wonderful gift and is appropriate for year round display after the holidays.
