This statue is of St Monica, patron of mothers, wives and abuse victims. St. Monica was the mother of St. Augustine of Hippo and spent much of her life praying for his reformation. She is known for her outstanding Christian virtues, particularly the suffering caused by her adulterous husband and for her prayer life dedicated to her son's reformation. St. Monica is mentioned in Augustine's much read book Confessions. She is the patron saint of abuse victims and wives.
