St. Mary Magdalene is considered by many to be the second most important woman in the Christian scriptures after Mary, the mother of Jesus. She traveled with Jesus as he preached across the country and was present at both the Crucifixion and the Resurrection. This holy card, dedicated to her, is a two page card featuring the world famous artwork of Fratelli-Bonella with gold stamped trim. The front of the card has an image of St. Mary Magdalene kneeling with the cross in the background and a small bottle which may contain the ointment with which she is said to have anointed the feet of Jesus. The back of the card has a prayer for her help in matters of self-denial and asking that at the moment of death the one praying may his or her lamp will be filled with the oil of faith and hope and filled with the pure flame of charity. The inside has a biography of St. Mary Magdalene, her feast day, the meaning of her name and the people for whom she is considered a patron saint. The card measures 5-1/4 by 3-1/8 inches so is easy to carry or use as a bookmark in a bible or prayer book. It would be a nice memento to give the young person who has chosen Mary as her Confirmation name.
