Product Details
St. Martin was the illegitimate son of a nobleman and a freed slave and as such was barred from becoming a member of a religious order. Since he could not officially join an order, he asked to work as a volunteer as the Dominican convent and was accepted and where he worked as a servant. Eight years later, because of his service especially to the sick and poor, the prior of the convent allowed Martin to take his vows as a lay brother. Throughout this time and for the rest of his life he was known for his care of the sick and dedication to social justice. He is the patron saint of many causes including poor people, public health and social justice.
Standing 4" tall, the religious Saint Martin statue is made of resin and is the perfect size for a windowsill, desk, or nightstand. Our Saint Martin statue would be especially appropriate for a Confirmation candidate taking the Confirmation name of Martin or for someone in the medical profession.
