Product Details
This holy card dedicated to St. Lucy is a two page card. On the front of the prayer card is an image of St. Lucy in the white robes of a virgin. She is holding the palm branch of a martyr and a dish which legend says contains her eyes which were put out when she was tortured but were restored miraculously by God. The back of the prayer card has a prayer asking God to give the one praying the light of faith and an abhorrence of the darkness and blindness of evil. The inside of the card contains information about the life of St. Lucy who was born into a rich family and wanted to give her riches to the poor. Her mother betrothed her to a rich young man who was upset when she give up her wealth and betrayed her to the pagans as a Christian. She was tortured and eventually killed.
The prayer card is made in Italy and features the world renowned artwork of Fratelli-Bonella with gold stamped trim. Along with the biography you find information about St. Lucy's feast day, her name meaning and those to whom she is the patron saint. The prayer card could be given as a sign of encouragement and blessing to the young woman who has chosen Lucy as her Confirmation name. The card measures 5-3/8 by 3-1/4" so is easy to carry or use as a bookmark.
