Product Details
Joan of Arc is one of the best-known saints and figures of the Catholic Church and her story is one of the best-known also. This stunning statue appears to show her on her horse about to lead her soldiers into battle. The statue is made of cold-cast bronze which is a mixture of resin and bronze powder and it stands 11”W x 10”H. It is finished with light hand painting in soft pastel colors. Notice the intricate detailing throughout the statue but especially on the horse and its mane and tail, her armor and the flag she is carrying. A plate on the base has her name in both English and French.
She is known as the Maid of Orleans and considered to be a heroine of France for her role in the Hundred Years War which resulted in the coronation of Charles VII. Much artwork and many stories are available about Joan of Arc and this statue is one of the loveliest you will find. The cold-cast bronze enables the statue to be placed indoors or outdoors and the fine detailing of the statue will make it an object of beauty no matter where the statue is placed. St. Joan was burned at the stake at the age of 19 for charges that were later called false and was canonized in 1920. Her feast day is May 20 and she is the patron saint of France, the military and captives.
