Although the church acknowledges about two dozen St. Gerards, the most well known is Gerard Majella. St. Gerard Majella lived in Italy in the 18th century, and is the patron saint of expectant mothers, mothers, pregnant women, and childbirth. His feast day is celebrated on October 16. This St. Gerard medal measures 3/4" in diameter and is crafted from pewter hanging on an 24 inch silvertone chain. Accompanying the St. Gerard medal is a laminated holy card with an image of the saint on the front, and a “Prayer for a Safe Delivery” on the back. The St. Gerard necklace and laminated prayer card makes a great gift for expectant mothers, new mothers, or in celebration of Mother’s Day.
The front of the St. Gerard medal necklace says, “Saint Gerard Pray for US” and the back of the medal is blank. In addition, the Saint Gerard necklace makes a great gift for Confirmation, First Communion, or other special occasions.
