In 1830, Our Lady appeared three times to St. Catherine Laboure. During an apparition, Catherine was instructed to commission a medal depicting the images revealed to her. The front of this sterling silver Miraculous Medal shows the Blessed Mother with the words "O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee". The edges of the Miraculous Medal are scalloped to provide delicate intricate detailing that makes this necklace appropriate for special occasions, although it is also suited for day to day wear.
The backside of the medal has the Virgin's monogram, the letter "M" with a cross and 12 stars, the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The scallop-edged Miraculous Medal is sterling silver and comes on an 18" stainless steel chain. The medal comes in a velvet-textured jewelry box.
