In Prayers for Difficult Times Conversations with God about Things Often Left Unsaid, author Helen Reichert Lambin writes in an easy to understand and often humorous manner and offers suggestions as to how to pray right at the time and in the situation that you are experiencing which may be difficult for some people to do. Her first chapter addresses this as it is entitled Prayers for Difficulty in Praying. There are four chapters dealing with difficulty in praying, praying in everyday situations, praying in special situations and prayers to move forward. Each chapter starts with a personal reflection, continues with short prayers relating to different problems, concludes with a scripture verse and provides room for the reader to enter personal notes, thoughts or prayers.
In Prayers for Difficult Times, Lambin relates that she feels prayer is talking and listening to God (however you define God) or just listening and being receptive to what comes. In either case there is a Someone with whom you are interacting and communicating. An index in the back of the book provides an alphabetical listing of the prayers so, if you are looking at a particular problem, you have the means of going directly to a relevant prayer. A listing of scripture verses is also provided.
