The image of Our Lady of Guadalupe is one of the most recognized images of Mary in the world today. She appeared in an apparition to a young man, Juan Diego, and asked to have a chapel built in her honor. She had him take out-of-season roses to the bishop of the area and when the young man opened his cloak the roses fell out and the cloak displayed an image of Mary appearing as Our Lady of Guadalupe. The traditional image is seen on the front of the holy card while the back of the card has a prayer which asks her protection for the Church, the Pope and all those that turn to her for help.
The Our Lady of Guadalupe holy card is made in Italy and features world famous Fratelli-Bonello artwork with gold trim. It measures 2-1/2 by 4-1/2 inches so is easy to carry in a purse, wallet or backpack or use as a bookmark in a prayer book or bible. It is laminated to protect the card and to allow the card to be used over and over again. Our Lady of Guadalupe is the Patroness of the Americas, Heavenly Patroness of the Philippines and the Patroness of the Unborn Children. Her shrine in South America is the most visited Catholic pilgrimage destination in the world.
