Many people know the story of how Mary appeared to Juan Diego near Mexico City and left her impression on his mantle. The Our Lady of Guadalupe icon card measures 4-3/8 by 5-7/8 inches and is blank inside so there is a generous amount of space to include your message for just about any occasion. The verse from Revelation 12:1 is included on the inside. The back of the card has an explanation of the history and symbolism of the icon presented.
Our Lady of Guadalupe is presented with traits of both European and native Mexican peoples signifying she is the mother of all. Her visit to Juan Diego is considered to be a sign of her great love for the people of the New World. A unique feature of an icon is the large eyes of the figure which are said to be eyes that look into the soul of the viewer or that draw the viewer into communion with God through the eyes of the figure represented in the icon.
