The front of this laminated holy card shows Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha praying in front of a simple wooden cross, with water in the background. The daughter of a Mohawk warrior, Blessed Kateri was known for her zealous faith, which often brought conflict with other members of her tribe, who were not Catholic. As a child, she survived a smallpox outbreak that left her scarred and with poor eyesight. According to eyewitness accounts, these scars were miraculously healed after she died at the age of 24. It is also said that many who attended her funeral experienced miraculous healings.
