Being an Irish monk, he first built a hermitage with a vegetable and herb garden, oratory and hospice for travelers in County Kilkenny, Ireland. When his notoriety grew and people were constantly seeking him out for his sanctity and skills in curing infirmities, he left for France.

In France, he ended up near Paris in Meaux, to seek silence and solitude. Again, he built a hermitage, created his gardens, oratory, and a hospice for travelers. Over time, he was again sought out by many for healing and he lived there until he died in 670 AD.
