There is an explanation about the covenants God has made with humankind and each section, Hebrew and Christian scriptures, has an explanation about the books found in that particular section. Also helpful to the family are the maps, scriptures references, the index and a glossary of people found in the stories. Several of the paintings found in the book are classical paintings so parents may want to do some previewing before sharing with children.
