A triptych is an art style that arose from early Christian art and consists of 3 panels of artwork connected by hinges which allows the 2 side panels to close. This stunning Calvary triptych portrays 3 occurrences that happened at the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The main panel, of course, has the scene of the cross. The two smaller side panels show Jesus meeting his mother on the way to the cross and the other panel shows him meeting her again when he is being taken down from the cross. The Calvary triptych is made with the sturdy and durable cold cast bronze method and stands 8 inches high and 4 inches across when the panels are closed and about 8 inches across when the panels are open.
The triptych is finished with hand painting which adds just a hint of color to the robes of the figures. You will be amazed at the detailing on the triptych whether you are considering the figures on the inside or the look of an ornate cathedral that appears when the panels are closed.
