Available in a 0.25 ounce roller bottle, the aromas include: Jasmin, Rose of Sharon, Frankincense, Frankincense & Myrrh, Spikenard, and Pomegranate. Selecting an anointing oil is perfect for use by clergy of all denominations. The tradition and ceremony of using anointing oil has been around since Biblical times. In fact, the very word "anoint" is derived from the Latin word meaning "smear with oil", "inunctus". So, we, the followers of God, make physical our ordination into the Lord's chosen through the anointing of oil. Significance of each of the anointing oil aromas are:
- The Jasmin flower is meant to represent love, beauty, appreciation and purity. Jasmin also means "Gift from God".
- Frankincense is an aromatic resin harvested from specific trees and is the same resin given to baby Jesus by one of the three wise men.
- Frankincense & Myrrh is comprised of 2 of the 3 gifts brought to Jesus by the Wise Men (Matthew 2:11), both symbolically important all throughout the Bible.
- The Pomegranate has been highly prized by Israelites since Biblical times, and was one of the seven spices brought back by the spies to show the abundance of the Promised Land.
- The Rose of Sharon is a flowering shrub known for its large blooms. In the Bible, the Rose of Sharon is meant to symbolize beauty, and is used by King Solomon to describe the unmatched elegance of his lover.
- Spikenard oil was the oil contained in the alabaster jar that Mary of Bethany broke over Jesus' head and feet (Matthew 26:6-13).
What does it mean to be anointed? Throughout the countless mentions of the word throughout the Bible, we can understand that to be anointed is, primarily, to be set apart and made holy (consecrated); to be elevated into a sacred purpose ordained by God specifically for YOU. "Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the Prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven." - James 5:14-15. No matter which anointing oil you choose, the oil makes a beautiful and meaningful gift for all clergy.
