This 5-1/2 inch San Damiano cross is designed to hang on the wall and comes with a small hole above the cross. The full-color image is adhered to a 1/8 inch pressed board as an inexpensive reproduction of the original cross that hangs in the Santa Chiarra (St. Claire) Church in Assisi, Italy. St. Francis prayed in front of the original cross as a young man and this is where he heard the Lord instruct him to rebuild the Church. Most consider the San Damiano cross to be an icon since it contains images of people who contributed to the meaning of the cross.
