The 4 way medal, in the shape of a cross or cruciform, has, like the name implies, four images on the medal which consist of the Sacred Heart of Jesus at the top, a miraculous medal with the image of Mary at the bottom and images of St. Joseph and St. Christopher on each side. The center of this 4 way medal uniquely features a silver dove, which symbolizes the Holy Spirit, against a red enamel background which might remind a person of the Holy Spirit seen as tongues of fire coming to the Apostles on Pentecost and coming in a special way during the sacrament of Confirmation.
The antique satin finish of the pewter medal makes the red center stand out and appear particularly attractive.
