Product Details
Measuring 4-1/2”W x 6”H, this St. Kevin icon features him holding a blackbird who supposedly nested in his hand. St. Kevin is an Irish saint known as the founder and first abbot of Glendalough in County Wicklow, Ireland. He lived as a hermit for seven years and slept in a stone cave above one of the two lakes of Glendalough that is called, “Kevin’s bed.” He ate sparingly, had the animals for his companions and spent hours in prayer. The St. Kevin icon honors him more as the abbot of his Glendalough monastery that came into being in 544 AD.
Mounted on wood, the St. Kevin icon is made with a process called, “Lumina Gold” which creates rich colors because the print is on top of a gold leaf background. There is a non-glare satin lamination that provides UV protection coating ensuring colors don’t fade. A keyhole for hanging is drilled into the back at the top.
