Product Details
Measuring 4-1/2”W x 6”H, this St. Fiacre icon honors the patron saint of gardeners and his proficiency in herbal medicine. St. Fiacre emigrated from Ireland to France in order to seek more solitude. He arrived in Meaux, France in 628 A.D. where he eventually constructed a hermitage with a vegetable and herb garden, an oratory, and a hospice for travelers. In addition, he was renowned for curing the sick by utilizing his skills with herbal medicine. The St. Fiacre icon has him surrounded by a colorful garden of flowers while he is holding a garden trowel since he took care of his gardens himself.
Mounted on wood, the St. Fiacre icon is made with a process called, “Lumina Gold” which creates rich colors because the print is on top of a gold leaf background. There is a non-glare satin lamination that provides UV protection coating ensuring colors don’t fade. A keyhole for hanging is drilled into the back at the top.
