Anthony of Padua (1195-1231), a disciple and friend of St. Francis of Assisi, became known as the finder of lost things because of a simple story from his life: a Franciscan novice took Anthony's Psalter without permission. Many people view Anthony as the finder not only of lost articles but also of lost intangibles: he is invoked to return lost health, lost happiness, lost peace.
